The Beginning

Here is my September, 2003 (9/26/03) Ameritrade monthly statement ($4,232).

Here is the $25,000 TD Waterhouse check sent mid-September, 2003 to my Ameritrade account during my gradual account transition.

Here is my 2003 Year-end TD Waterhouse statement and my calculations of an approximate TD Waterhouse portfolio value of $16,489 on 9/26/03.

On October 1, 2003, I calculate a combined portfolio value of $45,721 ($4,232 + $25,000 + $16,489). By the end of October, 2003, the accounts were merged into my Ameritrade account and remained there for the entire 28 months.  My portfolio more than doubled during October, 2003 (to $104,119) as my biggest holding, TRM Corp. began its run from $4 (where I first started buying) to $27 several months later.

TD WATERHOUSE 2003 YEAR-END STATEMENT

Since I do not have 2003 individual monthly statements from TD Waterhouse, I worked backward from my last Waterhouse transaction on 10/08/03 to determine an estimate of my portfolio value at the end of September, 2003.  My 2003 Year-end TD Waterhouse statement with all transactions can be seen here.

CALCULATIONS:

10/08/03 (My last TD Waterhouse transaction) – Bought 5,481 shares of TRM Corp at $4.25 for $23,294 (5,481 x $4.25). The account had $110 in cash remaining for a total portfolio value of $23,404. The entire contents of the account (cash and TRM shares) were then transferred to Ameritrade which can be seen here.  The transfer took a couple of weeks to complete. The TD Waterhouse account was closed after transfer.

10/06-10/07 – Bought and sold OMI Corp. for $131 profit.  After $20 in commissions, I calculate a portfolio value of $23,253 prior to trade.

10/01-10/07/03 – Sold 4,500 shares of Elan Pharmaceuticals for a profit of $2,095.  Deducting $30 for commissions, I calculate a portfolio value of $21,128 prior to trade.

9/26/03 – 10/02/03 – Sold 3,463 shares of Electronic Clearing House for $4,569 profit.  Commissions were $70.  I calculate updated portfolio value on 9/26/03 of $16,489 prior to trade.

To the best of my knowledge, my entire TD Waterhouse personal portfolio value was approximately $16,489 on 9/26/03. Again, on this date, the value of my Ameritrade account was $4232 and my $25,000 personal check from TD Waterhouse to Ameritrade was being processed and posted on 10/01/03.  In total, $16,489 + $4,232 + $25,000= $45,721 starting value.
